I’ve recently started a position in New York City. While I absolutely love it, the commute is something that I’m not a huge fan of. In order to get where I need to be, I need to be up, ready and out the door by 6 a.m. Luckily, I’ve mastered doing my makeup in 10 minutes (or sometimes less) so I can enjoy those extra few minutes of sleep.
Eyelash extensions are arguably the biggest beauty trend at the moment. While they used to be something celebrities or the well-fortuned indulged in, I’ve come across more and more millennials splurging to have gorgeous, long lashes. I found myself looking into their cost and maintenance but, with my recent college graduate budget, couldn’t allow myself to commit to something so expensive. Yet here I am, less than $10 later, with a full set of thick, lengthy eyelashes.
I’ve had the same pair of glasses for over four years, so you could say I’ve been overdue for something new. But as a recent college graduate, I was not in the market to be paying $400 for a nice pair of frames (let alone prescription lenses). When I heard about EyeBuyDirect, I was happy to find out I could afford a new pair on a recent college graduate budget.
I’ve mentioned this in a few earlier blog posts: my #1 rule when it comes to fashion is comfort. Of course this doesn’t always apply, but I try to make sure my day-to-day wardrobe is suitable for day-to-day wear. Going on vacation this past weekend, I wanted to look stylish (gotta get that ‘gram) while still keeping my #1 rule in mind.
There are a few fashion staples I swear by and one of those is jumpsuits. Growing up going to New York City, I would always struggle between finding a balance of something that is chic and fashionable but still sensible and comfortable (especially with all the walking that’s bound to be done). Typically, I go for something casual paired with my Nikes. However, my most recent city excursion called for me to face my seemingly never-ending city outfit dilemma.
For those who don’t know, I play guitar. While I absolutely love having long nails (and have no problem growing my own out), I can’t keep them long because it gets in the way of my playing. I don’t mind keeping my nails short, but when special events roll around an elegant nail really pulls your look together.
Let’s be honest: most of us have had an undying desire to see what we’d look like with bangs. Whether they’re blunt, choppy, long or short; there’s always that “what if” in the back of our heads. So what if you had a dramatic childhood experience? If that model on your Instagram Explore page can pull them off, they can’t be that bad; right?
If you happen to be stealing Casper’s look like I am right now, you’re likely debating booking a spontaneous trip to the nearest island ASAP. And if you have plans for spring break, the urge to hop in a tanning bed stat!
Makeup is my kryptonite. I’m always seeing new products while shopping, browsing social media or talking to other beauty-obsessed people. I can spend hours on YouTube looking at different tutorials and reviews.
But with a seemingly endless amount of promising products on the shelves, who has the time and money to try them all? Lucky for you, (in my totally not biased opinion) my go-to makeup products are pretty rad and will let you get the most bang out of your buck.
So maybe I didn’t get the LORAC Pro ($44) palette, but this palette is such an unbelievable dupe I might as well have. Normally I’m pretty skeptical about products claiming to live up to the quality of high-end beauty favorites, but the hype that Makeup Revolution’s Iconic Pro 1 ($12) eyeshadow palette has received was too good to pass up.
