Nic in the City

We’re barely two weeks into 2018 and I’ve been lucky enough to visit my favorite city twice. There’s just something about the New York City air (cue sarcastic joke about pollution) that gives off a vibe like no other. The atmosphere is incredible and this city is the reason why I know I’m not likely to ever move too far away. Consider this blog a dedication to the best city there is.

Growing up, I’ve always had the luxury of being able to go on day trips to NYC. Living an hour and a half away, there were times I would complain about being too far. Of course, then I would think about how there are people who have never experienced all the concrete jungle has to offer.

Yes, I’ve experienced all of the “tourist” attractions New York has for those who visit, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve come to realize my favorite days spent in the city are the ones that are unplanned with no specific destination. Popping in and out of random coffee shops and boutiques, taking in the art and skyscrapers all around and simply just enjoying its essence.

Ever since I was little I have always said that I would one day work in the city. Now that I’m a recent college graduate, I’m more determined to make this dream a reality than ever. Here’s to you, New York, and just a few of the reasons I consider you my second home.

The Hustle

Like I mentioned above, nothing compares to that NYC vibe. I love the hustle of the city. While some people may get overwhelmed or frazzled by it, I love how the city is always moving and alive; whether during the early morning or late hours of the night.

The Architecture

Everywhere you look. It’s so easy to overlook all of the beauty that is a part of a single city. Next time you’re walking its streets (if you can), take a step back to take it all in.

The Art

Whether that’s graffiti on building walls, dancers and musicians busking on the streets or paintings hanging in the MoMA; there is so much creativity and art in this city.

The Food (and Coffee Shops)

Chances are no matter where you pop in, you’re in for something great. And the coffee shops that can be found on every block are definitely something awe-worthy for us coffee addicts.

The History

This one speaks for itself.

Thankful to have this city as my city.

xoxo Nic
