Rise and Grind (Summer Morning Routine)

Hello readers! I have been having a small case of writer’s block when it comes to picking out what to write about that might interest you. This morning, however, I am feeling extra motivated to get more content on my blog and really be able to get it to its full potential. Thus, this blog about my summer morning routine. This is just the routine that I do most mornings and maybe some of it will inspire you to switch up your own summer morning routine!

I wake up around 6 a.m. To start my morning, I go to the gym (for those wondering, I go to Crunch). Since I’m still in college and not working a 9 to 5 p.m. job, it’s easy for me to be able to work out in the morning rather than at night. I like starting my mornings at the gym because it gets my workout out of the way, wakes me up, and starts my day on a positive note.

You don’t have to go to the gym or have a membership to work out. Until this summer I didn’t bother with a gym membership because I have access to a gym when I’m at school and would just do home workouts when I wasn’t at college. I’ll probably post a more in-depth fitness routine of what I’m doing now and also how I workout from home at some point!

After I get back from the gym, I make myself a protein shake and drink that as part of my breakfast. I use Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey protein (I’m sure there are better proteins out there and I know there are worse. This is just the protein that I like to use and I am certainly no expert) because my goal at the gym is not to lose weight but rather to gain weight by building muscle and strength.

I then shower and get myself ready for the day (makeup etc.) and eat my actual breakfast which consists of oatmeal, fruit, and coffee. Honestly, I’m obsessed with oatmeal and admittingly will sometimes eat it for both breakfast and dinner. It is so good with some cinnamon and fresh fruit and is really good for you too! There is no other breakfast I would rather eat (stay tuned for a post on why you should eat oatmeal for breakfast).

While I drink my coffee and eat, I usually go on my laptop and get whatever work that needs to be done, done. This morning I am sitting at my desk drinking my coffee and writing this blog post. A lot of the time I am working on press releases for my internship. Whatever it is, I usually also has something that needs to be written (because even if I don’t I should certainly be writing here).

That’s how I spend my mornings! My mornings are usually pretty laid back unless I have an early shift at work but I usually work afternoons and nights which allows me to have my days be front-loaded. I like starting my day off with everything I need to get done because then at night I can relax and know that I had a productive day. I also tend to be more motivated to get things done in the morning rather than leaving them for the end of the day where I’m tired and ready to be reunited with my bed.
