Today I set my alarm for 4 a.m. I rolled out of bed by 4:17 a.m. and by 5 o’clock I was in the parking lot of Gold’s Gym ready to start my day on a good note. On the drive home, “Someday” by Rob Thomas came on the radio. I have heard this song easily a million times, but today it really hit me.
Lately, I have been in a bit of a rut. I have had a tendency to look at situations negatively the past few days and have been questioning everything and anything. This is normal and this is human. What really struck me about this song is how well the lyrics truly hit home for me and that negative mindset.
The ending in particular sums up a mindset that I am going to try and carry with me from now on:
Cause sometimes we don’t really notice
Just how good it can get
So maybe we should start all over
Start all over again
These lyrics couldn’t be more true. A lot of the time, we don’t notice how just good things are. We are so focused on the negative aspects of our lives and wrapped up in what could be better that we forget to appreciate how lucky we are in so many other areas.
The idea of starting over is something that I plan to take to heart. While it may be a song, it is beyond accurate that life is what you make it and if you want to start fresh you have every opportunity to do just that.
We all have bad days. We are all going to feel negative emotions about life at some point. But if you try and keep a positive mindset and decide to make the most out of your days, there’s a good chance you’ll be happier for the majority of them.
Today I’m deciding to make the most out of my day and appreciate all that I have because I am lucky enough to have many things to be grateful for. So if you’re needing a little hump day inspo, there ya go.
Just some food for thought.
